Determination
What Michael and I are doing in 11 days, these women completed their journey in 22 hours!
Oh my goodness!
We were honored to join them on two days of our hike!
OUR Average daily is 10 miles per day.
OUR Average daily gain and loss is 3,000 feet.
Determination, energy, and courage appear spontaneously when we care deeply about something. We take risks that are unimaginable in any other context.
As mentioned in last week’s newsletter, this journey is challenging us in unexpected ways.
Simple truths:
Michael is very fast and strong
I am a much slower hiker, but still strong
We LOVE our Refugio’s, Aubergues, Huts and Communal living experiences
I have become to value my CBD cream
I LOVE the diversity of language and culture on this trip
People are People - we have more in common than not
He’s handsome EVEN with his black socks.
Our beginning:
Everyday is UP.
Everyday is DOWN.
Everyday requires a warm shower and a cocktail hour.
We elevate above the clouds.
At night, we received magnificent sunsets and unimaginable skies of stars. On this night, we witnessed 8 planets aligning!
There are no bad sunsets.
The water is opaque and then becomes clear.
Eventually they merge, similar to the confluence in Utah’s Canyonlands National Park, where the Green River merges with the Colorado River.
Our friends from Iceland -strong, happy women who are related in kinship and friendship. Michael and they continued to exchange places along the trail - eventually ending up at the same Auberge! We ate two meals together and laughed throughout our stay together.
Directionally challenging at times.
But like the Camino, the TMB will provide. ❤️
Our morning sunrise. Each morning begins at 6:00.
Breakfast is at 7:00 and the trail at 8:00 at the latest.
The days are long.
Bovine Bells!
