Finding Joy in Chaos

Happy Pi Day!

A year ago, three 5th grade students and I promised each other that we would give each other a pie-in-the-face for Pi Day (3-14-25) the following year. Now, many of you know that I retired from school teaching last May, but this DID NOT deter the will and tenacity of these three (now) 6th grade students!

Periodically, I would receive emails (not too many) from them expressing, “Mrs. Conn, I’m so excited for Pi Day!” (Mind you, these emails started in September …) Later, details would be revealed. “Ok, we’re going to only have whipped cream pies.” (These emails would arrive somewhere around November …) My goal was simply to keep the excitement going.

Around January, I would receive emails with additional information, “Mrs. Conn, I think we should celebrate Pi Day on the basketball courts. I can’t wait! I’m so excited!”

When the day finally arrived, the three-once-5th graders and the now 6th graders giggled and wiggled like 2nd graders! They could hardly contain themselves. I, on the other hand, was a tad nervous! It had been a looooong time since I had had a pie thrown in my face!

But the truth is, I was grateful for the moment.

I needed to laugh.

And perhaps …

They did too.

Why is it so important to find Joy in the

Middle of Chaos?

There has been so much sadness and frustration depicted  in our world today. And although the lightworker in me feels something along the lines of James Carville’s Prediction I still find the need to bring laughter into MY LIFE and to the LIVES AROUND ME today.

Today.

I read today that Chaos Can Be Transformative.

And we might have to go through these difficult times in order to truly transform into the kind of person we want to become. Once you actually embrace uncertainty and go ahead …

You begin to change,

And so do the things all around you.

In the meantime. I wish you Joy.

Today.
