Magical Moments
“What is the meaning of Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia?”

“Fear of long words”
But this has nothing (really) to do with what I’m writing about this week.(I just wanted to see if you were paying attention). What I AM here to tell you about has to do with the word: perspective. Both intrinsically and extrinsically, perspective can help shift your whole entire outlook of a specific situation or event. I’m here to briefly write (and show you) about my 86-year old Mom and my 91-year old dog’s perspective.
Some of you may be wondering how the heck I know anything about my dog’s perspective, well, truth be known, I don’t; but I can see how she adjusts to her life’s events and this, in essence, provides me with an informed outlook on how she modifies her life. My Mom, on the other hand, does well AFTER processing her struggles verbally (oftentimes repeatedly) but always perseveres.
Her struggles include: Isolation (brought on by COVID-19), bone density deterioration, depression, muscle atrophy, hip replacement, muscle rebuild, socialization, returning to civilization (due to COVID-19 vaccination and masking). My Mom lost about 18 months of connection with members of her community. She is a ‘late-bloomer as a Zoomer’, I like to say. Modifications to her home and the way she relates to the world have all changed what was. Bringing in change can be challenging.
Adding to the list of struggles is a skin cancer procedure which required surgery and significant bandaging. In the end, we couldn’t help but to think, “Can we turn this ship around?” or at least change our outlook on it all?
Scrappy, the dog, and Sue, the Mom, share similar looking walker transporters. We call Scrappy's “The Binford 2000 Bicycle” and Mom’s “The Cadillac”.
Today, they decided to race each other across the finish line. Please enjoy this video. HILARIOUS!
Remember: there are Magical Moments everywhere!

This Wednesday, October 20th, I'll be starting my NEW class at Mosaic Yoga. I'm so excited and would love to see you!
Mosaic Yoga is at 1991 South 1100 East SLC, UT 84106 (in Sugarhouse Ally, next to Best Friends and Sugarhouse Coffee). Register for a 10-class pass by clicking here or make a donation at the time of class. I'll see you there bright and early!
Sonya, Laura and I are so excited to offer you our 2nd HAY Workshop in our Seasonal Series. Laura has designed a theme around each season to assist you artistically toward your true expression. Sonya uses her equine therapy to interpret her rescued 4-legged shaman mustang. I have the great joy of bookending the workshop with an opening and closing yoga practice seasonally influenced and uniquely designed for each gathering. We’re here to support you as you creatively explore your best self.
Join us in a cozy environment nestled in the Silver Creek area in the mountains of Park City. With vistas of expanding land adjacent to an Elk Migration Reserve, you will become transfixed with beauty, transformed into ease, and transported into magical moments that will stay with you forever.
“I love it here. I feel like I’m not in Utah anymore...we’re in a better version of OZ! There’s something about the enormity and power of a horse that reminds me I’m part of something bigger. Thank you!” —Gretchen Roberts Murray
The Fall workshop is full (we’re limited to 10 spaces and they go quickly!), so your next chance to join us is in January. We offer a Seasonal Series of Workshops: January 22; April 23; and July 23, 2022
Register: HERE for Winter “HAY” Workshop!
New Book Sneak Peak
You may have noticed that my weekly newsletter/blogs are providing excerpts of a larger project. Like you, I’m trying to make sense of the world in the midst of the seismic cultural shifts this pandemic has introduced. I believe it is through our shared stories that we will make sense of what is happening and discover a better way forward.
And—yes—it’s through our shared stories that we laugh and grieve and find inner knowing and remember love. Our stories are how we connect.
I’m excited to be working on this project with talented editor Jeannette Snyder and website designer “Yoga Guru” Scott Moore. Together we strive to deliver a larger meaningful message of how to balance out our lives to bring you Peace and Harmony.
Keep your eyes open for the expanded versions of the stories that I hope you're loving in a book that is forthcoming!
Thank you and have a wonderful week!
