When the Mind, Body and Spirit Work in Harmony with One Another
(Can we maintain a balance within a world that cannot?)
During the Enlightenment, the French philosopher Voltaire called superstition a “mad daughter” and likened it to astrology. The leading thinkers of the time espoused reason and sought to explain the world through the scientific method.
Today, we take a certain pride in approaching the world analytically. When faced with a confusing event, we search for its cause and effect. If we can determine why one action follows another, we can explain why it happened and when it might recur in the future. This makes the outcome reliable.
The fact is that any of us can become superstitious given the right circumstances.
You included.
Take batters in baseball. Many sports fans believe that batting in professional baseball is the most difficult task in sports. Even the best batters only manage to get a hit about a third of the time. Fans of baseball will know that many batters have good luck rituals. Before they step up to the plate, spectators might see players touching their hat, making the sign of the cross, or tapping their foot on home plate.
When I teach a softball unit to my 5th graders I ALWAYS tell them, “Don’t FEAR the SPHERE”. I also add that everyone can hit the ball with a bat and today, everyone will.
And you know what, they do.
100% of the time.
Children are the ones who hold our future in their hands, as they will someday be the ones to lead the way. Though they will be taught about the workings of life by others and by their own experiences, it’s up to spiritually awake adults to help them come to know their spiritual Self.
"Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence."
-Carl Sagan
While some studies may show some indication that mental magic is real, the lack of research repeatability suggests that either we're not capable of measuring the right data — or the data doesn't exist.
Ultimately, the human fascination with psychic powers isn't going anywhere … except UP.
A gathering from all over; some 20 states were represented bringing our guest totals to 40. We met to work on our journey to discover and perhaps, rediscover, the homeostasis of our Mind, Body and Spirit. What is our current status? Where are we now?
This retreat offered us the opportunity to escape the chaos of daily life, embrace nature's serenity, and nourish our mind, body, and spirit. By immersing ourselves in a tranquil environment, surrounded by like-minded individuals, we could embark on a transformative journey of self-discovery, relaxation, and personal growth.
Our setting: Bryce Canyon. Did you know that Bryce Canyon is actually not a canyon at all, but rather a large, natural amphitheater with thousands of multi-colored rock pinnacles called “hoodoos” These formations shine brilliantly under sunny skies but glow most exquisitely under the soft light of the rising or setting sun. Here are some fun facts about Bryce:
It Is Known for Its Stargazing.
The Park Consists of Three Distinct Climatic Zones.
In 2019, Bryce Canyon National park officially gained International Dark Sky status. Bryce Canyon's high elevation, clean air, and remote location creates some of the darkest skies in the country.
Bryce Canyon National Park Has the Largest Collections of Hoodoos on Earth.
How many times did my mother complain that on the day I was born that she wished I came with a user’s manual?
Well, guess what? I did!
I was born with the inherent ability to recognize danger, realize hunger, heal myself, be attracted to someone, love, and much more.
Uh huh, yep.
This is how I teach my students. All your tools are mobile; you carry them with you no matter where you go. I tell them to use their breath first - it’s the #1 tool.
My mother may not have known how to read my manual, but I do. It’s the gift we all share to help us survive in this world —It’s called intuition.
Unfortunately, just because we were born with intuition, or “gut instinct,” does not necessarily mean we have learned how to listen to or trust ourselves. We are living in a time of media overload, with information streaming at us from every angle all day long. News, magazines, social media, and the Internet are all screaming at us daily about how we are supposed to be living, eating, dieting, exercising, working, etc. There is so much information going around that it is almost impossible to find answers to questions we have without also finding opposing answers that contradict what we just learned.
Perhaps we start at the beginning. It’s a very good place to start.
Listen to your gut - it’s never wrong. It’s how you use the information. The mind, body, and soul conception is one way of understanding ourselves as "whole people."
If you click on the link above you will see friendly spirits in the form of orbs filmed during the retreat session. (the camera is pointing down towards the floor of the hotel room with the video light on)
Driving south toward the canyons with a goal to release my struggles (the shadow side of me), I find myself slowly revealing my truer purposes of my next chapter - surrounding myself with like-minded folks. I find myself excited to practice, discover, talk and learn about myself through a Mind, Body, Spirit journey.
I love witnessing the Earth change its colors and how we go through a similar process, the changing colors of our soul in the interplay of our mind, body and spirit. Understanding this process, meeting our shadow brings us to the brightness of our journey and moves us forward to finding our people. In these transformations, the tension of our body dissolves into the joy and excitement of what’s next. We get to enter a new season.
