About Amy

E-RYT 500, MBSR-T Certified, M.S. Special Ed., M.Ph. Exercise and Sports Science

Author of Revealing Grace A Story About a Cancer Adventure and a Community

For over three decades, I've dedicated my life to helping others discover their innate capacity for healing, growth, and transformation. As an educator, yoga instructor, energy worker, and wellness guide, I bring together traditional teaching methods with holistic healing practices to create sacred spaces where true transformation can occur.

My journey began in the classroom, where I spent 34 years as a special education teacher, developing an intuitive understanding of how to meet each person exactly where they are. With master's degrees in both Exercise and Sports Science and Special Education, I learned early on that healing and learning happen best when we feel truly seen and supported.

In 2005, my path took an unexpected turn when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. This profound experience deepened my understanding of what it means to heal—not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually. During my treatment and recovery, I discovered the transformative power of yoga, energy work, and community support. This personal journey led me to found A Quality Life Community, a non-profit organization providing free yoga and wellness programs for cancer survivors and their families.

As a registered yoga teacher (E-RYT) with over 2000 hours of training, I've had the privilege of sharing yoga's healing benefits with diverse populations—from children at burn survivor camps to teenagers learning mindfulness for stress reduction. My approach combines gentle movement with breath awareness and energy work, creating a nurturing environment where students can explore their own path to wellness.

Recent years have led me deeper into the realm of energy healing. As a Reiki practitioner and certified Light Worker, I've learned to bridge the gap between traditional wellness practices and spiritual healing modalities. My work now encompasses private yoga instruction, energy healing sessions, and wellness mentoring, all aimed at helping clients tap into their body's natural healing abilities.

Throughout my career, I've maintained a strong connection to both academic research and practical application. I've contributed to published studies on yoga interventions for burn survivors, presented at international conferences, and continue to write about wellness and healing. My first book, "Revealing Grace: A Story About a Cancer Adventure and a Community," shares insights from my personal journey and the power of community in healing.

Whether I'm teaching a yoga class, offering a Reiki session, or mentoring students, my approach is always grounded in:

- Creating safe, nurturing spaces for exploration and growth

- Honoring each person's unique journey

- Combining traditional wisdom with contemporary understanding

- Building supportive community connections

- Empowering others to discover their own healing potential

Today, from my home studio in Salt Lake City, I offer:

- Private and group yoga sessions

- Reiki and energy healing

- Wellness mentoring

- Educational support and tutoring

- Workshops and retreats

I believe that true healing happens when we address the whole person—body, mind, and spirit. Through my weekly newsletter and blog, I share stories, insights, and practical wisdom gathered from my ongoing journey of learning and growth.

When I'm not teaching or writing, you might find me hiking with my husband Michael (a firefighter), reading children's books (I'm working on publishing my own!), or connecting with my grown children who continue to inspire me with their own adventures.

I'm deeply grateful for the opportunity to share this journey with others and would be honored to support you on your path to wellness.
