Part 1 - Becoming Aware of Surroundings

Ultramarathon

The route of the Tour du Mont Blanc is used for an annual ultramarathon called the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB). The winning time to complete the entire circuit ranges from around 20 hours for the men to 24 hours for the women.

We’re not doing this …

Nope

But we ARE doing this

And this

And some of this

The Tour du Mont Blanc or TMB is one of the most popular long-distance walks in Europe. It circles the Mont Blanc massif, covering a distance of roughly 103 mi with 6.2 mi of ascent/descent and passing through parts of Switzerland, Italy and France.

WHY???

Because it's THERE!

We’re preparing for a new journey.

Walking allows us to immerse ourselves in our surroundings, notice details – the smells and sounds that we journey alongside us.

We’re viewing this section of the world at a walking pace.

The combination of physical activity, deep breathing, and mindfulness can help to reduce stress and anxiety. As you walk, you're not only moving your body but also shifting your mind toward a state of relaxation.

Sebastian Mauris

I believe the journey is transformative. This will be our first walking journey that begins and ends in the same place. I’m eager to self-reflect on my feelings at the beginning of our journey and then compare it to my feelings at the end of the journey.

Enjoy the video.

I’ll probably run into you at REI as I pack and prep.
