Transitions

I’m sitting on my porch for a spell in between two very busy times in my life. Taking a moment to observe the stillness I am suddenly reminded of the busyness that surrounds me.

Much like this song “Three Little Birds” by Bob Marley, I am reminded of the simplicity and amazement of nature.

You see, residing within a homemade birdhouse that my children made a dozen years ago at their middle school, live a small family of birds with very busy parents.

If you look close, you can see the reflection of the moment beak peering through the hole.

I am listening to them chatter away, while their parents fight in and out, attempting to feed and fill those little bellies.

If you look closely in the photograph of the birdhouse, you can see the reflection of the mama bird, just as she breaches the hole and flitter away with all intents and purposes to find the next meal

Transitions surround us.

It just takes a moment to see it.

Harrison

I am so proud of my nephew, Harrison.

Last weekend we drove to the bay area to witness the graduation of the final set of grandchildren in our family. Harrison is a beautiful child and accomplished in many ways! Winning league competitions in track and field, as well as coming in fifth place in the Junior Olympics. His accolades are abundant.

But what I am most proud of are not just the awards he is adorned with, but of the person that he has become. He is kind and gentle, and reminds us that it is the simple things that are the most important.

Just like the family of birds.

Our mini U.N. Family ❤️ Our gatherings are few and far between, but when together, we cover a lot of bases.

Through all the transitions of the weekend, we were able to also witness a full orange moon. With a view from a porch that overlooks the bird sanctuary and a beautiful bay, we were able to witness its slow, and strangely rapid, rising of orange, as it illuminated a tired sky

The Orange Moon transition closed out the long weekend with a stunning performance.

The trailhead began in our neighborhood and extended out to the bay- the conversations continued, sans phone distractions.

Above is our view from our AirBnB. We couldn’t ask for a better view but most importantly, the long conversations accompanied by morning coffee & tea during morning sunrises; only to be repeated the very same evening accompanied by cocktails and sunsets. Its shimmer and shine upon the bay, reminded us once again at best to take it slow and witness the glory that occurs within every second of every day.

Hope you are finding your porch time, appreciating the transitions and are breathing in the beauty.

Namaste.
