‘Twas the night before school

‘Twas the night before school and all through the house,

The teachers were scurrying and the students shared some doubts.

The backpacks were ready and hanging on hooks

All carefully packed with pencils and books.

The students were nestled, preparing for a good night's sleep.

They did their best to be prepared, a new school, new teachers they were ready to take the leap.

Teachers with their keychains, and I with my whistle

We all felt prepared before the day’s end dismissal.

And away drove the yellow bus, and in a blink of an eye,

I know I saw Dad wave while Mom gave a sigh.

I heard the principal exclaim with the sound of first bell

“Happy First Day of School to All, and to All We’ll be Well!”

Happy first day of school, everybody!
