Is your gut calm, but your mind is a wreck?
So many people are aware that what you are feeling in your gut and what your head is saying do not mesh. What you are feeling is the opposite of what your mind is processing.
Remember your gut is attuned to the spiritual.
When I refer to spirituality, I’m speaking in context of an instinct. Some may call it Spirit. Some may call it God. You need to call it something that is in alignment to you.
The spiritual part vibrates to the truth. When your brain and heart and soul tell you there is something NOT RIGHT - even when everything going on appears differently, please, please listen to that gut instinct.
I’ve taught children for over 34 years and what THEY have TAUGHT me is this:
Listen to your gut instinct.
It supersedes all things.
Intuition is not talked about often, but we all have it and we all feel it from time to time. Children feel it from birth. At one time, our own Intuition was our guiding force. It is important because it’s attuned to our subconscious and can point us in the right direction in any situation, short or long term.
Trusting your intuition, and teaching your children to listen to and trust it, can be very valuable in life. When you don’t have enough information about a situation you are in and the resources to learn more about it are unavailable, trusting your gut can help.
Yesterday I taught a noon yoga class at Mosaic Yoga. I had put out an ALL CALL to our yoga community offering a practice that could help calm the mind so that we could listen to our heart (and gut instincts).
In the yoga community, we often say, “Those that show up, were meant to be here.” I ended up practicing with people I had not yet met. In the end, they thanked me for teaching them HOW to use their BREATH. One woman cried; there were two others who struggled with physical manifestations of a larger ailment. Several stayed holding poses longer than cued (which was perfectly acceptable as said in the instruction).
“Listen to your body!”
This is a frequent instruction of mine.
Listening to your intuition means paying attention to not only what your head thinks, but what your body feels. Practice tuning into how your body feels. Another way of saying this is “listen to your gut,” which is considered to be our “second mind.”
As we navigate through the next month, I want us all to practice self care, respond kindly to one another, and if you need to take action for or against something - DO SO! And then come home and breathe some more.
It’s what I am going to be doing.
